New Podcast!

After what seemed like Big Illustration Party Time has somewhat pod-faded, I've decided to work on a solo podcast "Examined Life of an Illustrator." It takes a while for these things to publish on itunes, so for now, you can check out the show by going to http://www.examinedillustration.blogspot.com/ and listening to it by selecting Episode 1 in the sidebar there.

It's a bit different recording one of these on your own, so it might take a while for me to get used to the format. Either way, I'd love to hear what you guys think about it, and get suggestions you might have.

In other news, it looks like I'll be moving back to California by the end of April. Although I love Portland, it'll be good to re-unite with old friend, family, and Mai and I will be hunting for future places to live... Right now we're thinking either Santa Ana's Artwalk, somewhere in the better area of Long Beach, or possibly Burbank... Any suggestions?

Vote for my design "Hippo-Thesis" to Win on Lafraise

So, this is a rather old design, that I've been hoping to have get picked up and printed by a shirt company, and have now subbed it to the kind folks at lafraise. If you dig the design, your vote for it to get printed would rock some serious socks. Also, hippos are awesome. Intellectual hippos, well, enough said. Click the link below to vote for it to win:
Here's the link to vote for it:

I've been working on some other super awesome editorial cartoons with various clients, and should be able to post at least one of them soon, as it's supposed to be published on-line on a pretty big news site... And will hopefully become a weekly gig. So, stay tuned for that.

Oh, and I just roughed out the next sequence for Jacob's Apartment. So, slowly, but surely, it feels as though it's getting closer to complete. These last few pages were really emotionally difficult to do, as they draw a lot on the experience of loosing my father to cancer, but so far, I feel like it's going to be a pretty powerful sequence.
